Working in China Grove
It's also home. Mason Jenkins bought his first tractor, a red one, around his graduation and started Jenkins All Terrain here in May 2021. Every China Grove job is a short drive on NC 152, US 29 or I-85.
What land work looks like in China Grove
China Grove grew about 24 percent between 2010 and 2020, and neighborhoods like Liberty Grove off US 29, Kensington near Red Fox Lane and Noah's Run between Shue and Collins Roads are putting homes on ground that was woods or pasture not long ago. At the same time, rural tracts along Patterson Road, Mt. Hope Church Road and out toward Bostian Heights still carry decades of growth.
That split shapes the work. In and near town it's house pads, drainage fixes, stumps and driveways. Out in the county it's pasture clearing, fence lines, bush hogging and long gravel drives.

Services for China Grove properties
Forestry mulching opens grown-in fence lines and back acreage without burn piles, and grading fixes yards and pads where water runs the wrong way. For a building site, land clearing takes out stumps and roots, excavation handles trenches and footings, and turnkey site work puts the whole sequence under one estimate.
Long drives off Lentz Road and Daughtry Road get gravel driveway base work and culverts. Fields get bush hogging, yard stumps get stump grinding, and materials hauling and hydroseeding bring in what's needed and cover the bare ground at the end.
Clay, creeks and town rules
Most of China Grove sits on Cecil-type red clay, sandy loam over a dense subsoil that drains slowly. Because the town straddles the basin divide, one side of a lot can drain toward Grant's Creek and the other toward Cold Water Creek, so Mason reads the slope before cutting anything.
Clearing near water comes with stricter rules here than in most of Rowan County. The Town of China Grove requires a 100-foot undisturbed buffer along water features, compared with 30 feet under county rules, and Rowan County requires an approved erosion control plan before more than an acre is disturbed. Both get flagged at the free estimate. Work slows from December through February and picks back up in spring.
“Had Mason to do some stump grinding for me. Came by the same day I called to look at it. Came to do it 2 days later. Very punctual, had reasonable pricing, and very polite and considerate. Will definitely use again if I ever have need of his services. Have already given his…”
